Journey to the West is a smash major on next weekend in Perth, Western Australia and I am one of the people travelling to the that event. It's the first WA major in 5 years and the first australian major of this year. Also notable is that this is the first major in a while to not feature one of the 4 best australian players being Kinaji, Jdizzle, Zac and Unfezant as every major last year was won by one of these players (or Neo).
This means the outcome of this at the top end is unpredictable with Sriks and DD having not having won a major since 2022 and SebPro101 and Beet both never winning. And then beyond those likely top 4 seeds there are a large number of high level players that can make an upset on them and potentially make a run even to the top.
My personal goal for the event is to first and foremost make top 8. I'm probably going to be a top 8 seed but that doesn't mean making it there will easy or free even if I'm supposed to beat the other player. Especially coming off a disappointing 17th at Pissmas 5 I'm really hoping to bounce back with some good wins.
